The Finger Lakes Prevention Resource Center, based at the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence-Rochester Area, opened its doors on October 1, 2009. Prior to the start up of the FL PRC, NCADD-Ra hosted a day long workshop on Environmental Prevention presented by Dr. Michael Klitzner on September 30, 2009.

The goal of the Finger Lakes PRC is to:

  • Identify existing coalitions
  • Provide technical assistance and training to foster growth and sustainability of existing coalitions
  • Provide technical assistance and training on the Strategic Prevention Framework components
  • Where there are no coalitions, provide technical assistance and training to foster the development of community coalitions
On November 19, 2009, we hosted CADCA's "Back to Basics" full day workshop as an introduction to the CADCA framework for coalition development. The FL PRC conducted a preliminary assessment of partnering coalitions/partners asking attendees to self identify their strengths, challenges, priorities and preliminary identification of future potential technical assistance and training that might be beneficial to their coalitions. In follow-up, FL PRC staff created a menu of offerings that staff would be able to provide upon request of coalition partners.
